A canceled wedding in New England had a happy ending thanks to another bride.
When Brigette Polster’s engagement was called off, canceling her wedding venue in Newport, Rhode Island, was devastating.
“It was one of the most difficult things I had to do, hear myself say ‘I’m no longer having my wedding,'” she said.
It was only eight months out, and if another bride didn’t book the date, she’d lose her deposit the same way she did with the rest of her vendors.
But then came a call.
“They said to me, ‘We have a bride who’s interested in your dates,’ but she said to them, ‘I’m not going to take the date unless you guarantee that that bride gets her money back,” Polster said. “I can’t even begin to describe how that made me feel, knowing another bride had my back.”
When the Oct. 11 wedding date passed, Polster posted a video hoping to thank the mystery bride. Within two hours, the internet sleuths of TikTok identified the ultimate girls’ shorty as none other than Boston fashion influencer Tayla Santos.
“I was actually on TikTok when I got the notifications, it actually popped up right on best,” Santos said.
Speaking with NBC10 Boston, the two women met face-to-face for the first time.
“Me and my wedding planner had talked about you a lot during the whole process, so just to hear you tell your side of the story, I was like, ‘Oh, this is, like, so full circle,'” Santos told Polster.
“It was honestly meant to be,” Polster said. “You were meant to be getting married that day at that venue.”
