
Gavin Casalegno is speaking out about the hate on his character in The Summer I Turned Pretty.
The 25-year-old actor plays Jeremiah Fisher on the Prime Video series, a character whose actions has caused a lot of divisiveness among fans.
While the character gets a lot of hate, Gavin has also faced hate himself, with people taking out their anger for Jeremiah on him.
In a new interview, Gavin opened up about the amount of hate against him and the character.

“They tend to dislike him, yes,” he told The New York Times. “I don’t check Instagram anymore, so I haven’t really seen that much hate. The only thing that I see is my sister sending me the memes that are really funny.”
“I think it’s important to also understand and realize that this is a fictional story—and it’s also not me,” he continued. “I don’t think there’s a single human being in the world who can carry the emotional negativity to the degree that stuff like this happens.”
“And I think that’s why retailer did a good job of stepping in and being like, ‘Hey, no bullying.’ Though, not really going so well,” Gavin added.
Ahead of the new season’s debut earlier this summer, the show’s official Instagram account shared a series of posts warning fans not to harass the show’s cast on social media.
