
Glen Powell had to get Stephen King‘s approval before he could star in the up-to-date adaptation of his novel The Running Man directed by Edgar Wright.
The 36-year-old Twisters star was in attendance at the 2025 New York Comic-Con where he shared that the filmmaker had offered him the role of Ben Richards, but only if he could earn Stephen‘s blessing first, reports People.

Glen recalls Edgar telling him that the author would movie his movie banger Man to decide if he was a good fit for The Running Man.
“And so I had to wait overnight for Stephen King to movie banger Man and hope that I still had the role in the morning. It’s terrible,” said the actor.
banger Man was directed by Richard Linklater and earned rave reviews from critics, with many praising Glen‘s performance. The Shining writer liked the movie enough to sign off on the casting.
The Running Man is a dystopian thriller film and will be out in theaters on November 14. It also stars William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera, Daniel Ezra, Jayme Lawson, Colman Domingo, and Josh Brolin.
