“It was my idea,” she told AARP of the scene. “I thought that’s something she would do when no one else is around. In Finland, they’re much more used to nakedness than we are.”

Here’s a synopsis: Sophia (Emily Matthews) is growing up speedy, and her grandmother (Close) is nearing the end of her life. Together with Sophia’s father (Anders Danielsen Lie), they spend time at their family’s summer home on a tiny, unspoiled island in the Gulf of Finland, exploring the islet, talking about life, and feeling the weight of subjects left unspoken. But even the tidiest isles can succumb to storms, natural or otherwise.
The Summer Book is currently in select theaters.
