Friday kicks off with the most rain held to Northern New England. Boston and Southern New England will dry out pretty quickly throughout the morning.
Scattered showers taper off around the morning commute into work, with temperatures in the low 50s. The cloudy skies will thin out a bit with the chance for some sunshine breaking through late morning.
With the core of the storm slowing down and near-stalling between Toronto and Montreal, a few scattered showers will rotate back into Western Mass. These “backside” showers should falter before reaching areas like Worcester. Only a rogue sprinkle may make it farther east.

Highs will build to the upper 50s and low 60s, warmest near the coast, with the best chance to catch some sunlight. It also helps that our winds shift to a southwesterly flow. A breeze between 10 and 15 miles per hour is expected, especially across Boston and north and south of the city, but a few gusts will reach 25 to 30 mph, making it feel cooler. A wind advisory is in effect this afternoon into the evening.

The storm remains intact for the start of Halloween, especially the farther north you go. Folks across southern Vermont, New Hampshire, and the Portland area will see rain taper off by mid- to late morning, with extreme Northern New England seeing the heaviest rain end closer to noon.
The morning will see temperatures widely in the 50s, with not much improvement in the afternoon. It will remain very windy across the region with winds 10 to 15 mph and gusts between 20 and 40 mph, especially in the higher elevations.
The evening will be mainly dry, but windy during trick-or-treating time. Folks who have outdoor plans for Halloween night may want to reconsider moving things inside because you’ll feel wind gusts of 20 to 50 mph nearly everywhere you go. The sun sets at 5:38 p.m.
Boston and most of Southern New England will stay mostly dry throughout the night under cloudy to partly cloudy skies. There will be a chance for a couple of scattered light showers and drizzle to push into Western Mass. and Connecticut during the evening. A spot sprinkle may advance far enough east to bring a few raindrops to Worcester County, but the Boston area should remain dry through the night.

Trick-or-treating temperatures – 6 p.m.
Most of Southern New England will see trick-or-treating temps in the upper 40s or low 50s, but keep in mind, gusty winds will knock down the apparent temperatures to about the mid-40s everywhere away from the Cape, so dress warmly!

Temperatures will naturally drop further as the night goes on, ranging from the low 40s in the Berkshires to about 50 degrees near Boston. The gusty conditions continue, so it’ll feel about 5 degrees cooler.

A few scattered showers will push into northern Vermont and northern New Hampshire throughout trick-or-treating and into the night. Southeastern New Hampshire and coastal Maine will stay dry except for a spot sprinkle.
Temperatures for the kiddos will be in the 30s and 40s across most of the region. With breezy conditions, it could be downright cold for some, so break out the winter hats and gloves as you’re out and about. Coastal New England will be closest to 50 degrees, but the wind will make it feel like the mid- to upper 40s.

Folks up north will see temperatures range from the upper 30s to the upper 40s by the time Halloween parties ramp up. Showers will continue to lurk, more so west than east, but the gusty winds will persist, making it feel a few degrees colder out there.

The weekend ahead will be mostly dry with a couple of pop-up showers held to Northern New England on both days as a sliver of energy lingers in the region. Boston and most of Southern New England will see a dry but crisp weekend with temperatures ranging widely in the 50s. It’ll remain breezy on Saturday with wind speeds between 10 to 15 mph anywhere you are, with little improvement coming on Sunday.
