Hilaria Baldwin and Alec Baldwin are attempting the iconic Dirty Dancing lift, and… well, they’re just trying! The couple had posted an Instagram snippet showing their living room dance time to the memorable tune of “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.” Hilaria captioned the post, “Teacher is working on my dirty dancing today…last part needs some work 🤣.”

A free-spirited Alec, 66, picked his good-looking wife of 40 years for the fittingly funny rendition of the finale of the Dirty Dancing-specific lift made popular by Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. There was indeed much laughter and stumbling along the way; however, that final lift is going to require more practice. This duo is apart from just sharing sweet and playful moments of life with a huge family (seven kids amongst themselves) and a seemingly tight-knit relationship notwithstanding some controversies surrounding Alec Baldwin in the past few years but especially post the tragic Rust shooting incident in 2021.
The post was greeted mostly by positive feedback; all rave about the chemistry in this couple. “Love it! Love the chemistry between the two of you!” praised another user. A third chimes in, “You two are a match made in heaven!! So sweet…keep dancing, smiling and being in love.” The fourth comment says that it set the clip: “Favorite movie so this is a great extract. The love in this clip ❤️. The way you look at each other – so beautiful to see!!”
Also, not all comments were focused on dancing. Even among some comments, growing warmer, are those insinuating about Alec Baldwin’s ongoing legal saga concerning his fatal shooting on the set of Rust. One user said, perhaps ironically, “You would think, given his history, he would lay low on the media.” Another chimed in, jokingly, “Just keep him away from any 🔫😳” – a thinly veiled reference to that tragic incident causing the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
One more comment in Russian has been translated as basically saying: “This is what happens when you have money and date someone younger! Youth defeats youth!” – probably a nod to the notable 26-year age difference between the couple, which has often become a talking point.
Setting aside these few rather pointed riffs, the majority of reactions are toward supporting and rejoicing in this playful moment shared by the couple. Further, one fan has already suggested that Hilaria should be on Dancing With The Stars (DWTS): “DWTS needs you! I doubt you want to leave NY for that long but you’d absolutely crush those dances.”
The following would be a razor-sharp contrast to the fact that Baldwin’s involuntary manslaughter trial for the Rust shooting is set to begin in July. From the viewpoint of court analysts, putting out a good image, the family man image, could stain public perception in the lead-up to the trial; whether such considerations actually played into the sharing of the dance videos cannot be determined.
Interestingly, the comment section therefore expanded the already polarized public opinion of the couple: There are supporters who see them as a loving, fun couple sharing a sweet moment, and then there are those who cannot seem to separate this dance video from the legal drama and tragic narratives currently surrounding Baldwin’s career. Even if they had scheduled it, those precious few minutes of laughter attempting to perfect the Dirty Dancing lift were deeply well-needed for this husband and wife duo in their living room.
