
Fans online are fuming at the officiating in the NFL right today, and some have gone as far to slam the league as being rigged for certain teams.
Over the years, some fans have thought that the “Chiefs get all the calls,” meaning, referees favor the team by either purposely missing key in-game penalties they commit against opposing teams. However, on Sunday (October 26), fans pointed to the New York Giants vs Philadelphia Eagles game, where there were seemingly missed calls and calls that seemed to benefit the Eagles.
One play came when Eagles QB Jalen Hurts seemed to have fumbled during the “tush push,” and the ball was recovered by the Giants. However, the refs ruled that Hurts‘ “forward progress” stopped, and the Giants did not recover. The play was not reviewable.

Scott Green, the NFL’s executive director of the Referees Association, once responded to “rigged” allegations with the following statement: “Officiating crews do not work the same team more than twice in regular season. It is insulting and preposterous to hear conspiracy theories that 17 officiating crews consisting of 138 officials are colluding to assist one team.”
