Curtis is taking on a new project and it looks like it’s exactly the kind of challenge she would succeed at. The remarkable actress is busily working on an Apple TV Project alongside Jason Blum, and the joy in her voice when she said “I’m so excited” sounded authentic.

The rest of the film has yet to be released, but an exclusive cut has been shared which really sets the mood. You know that bus scene? It’s absolute pandemonium, yet there’s really an artistic touch to the chaos. The driver is gripping the steering wheel as if his life depends on it— which spoiler alert it does— and there is a woman alongside him who clearly has a story to tell. The orange fiery tint to the scene’s lighting really drives home the touch of blurring that Greengrass wanted in “the most realistic depiction of fire ever put on film.” The sheer intensity and raw emotion that come out of this, is the kind of film brute force that Greengrass is renowned for.
The new cuts of the film have certainly caught the attention of the internet. Jamie Lee Curtis’s new era has certainly been embraced. One of the comments read “PRODUCER!!! She looks good on you.” and that genuinely felt like an internet consensus and I can happily agree with it. People really do appear to agree that Curtis looks better on the producer’s role. Another comment that caught my eye was “I am already on the edge of my seat 💺 looks so intense…Nice job, Jamie Lee 😍” and that kind of sums up the rest of the remarks. It appears as if everyone is looking forward to the movie like a theatrical experience.
Well, the hype did draw some criticism, but it sank a little lower this time. “🔥. But is there a big scary monster outside of the bus? If so, I think South Park already did it 🪳.” This is, admittedly, the most refined form of criticism I have ever seen. For people who have apparently been out of the loop, there is an infamous South Park episode pertaining to a monstrosity bug on a bus. The comment is, therefore, both a valid theory and a joke. The movie is marked as a Paul Greengrass film, meaning the storyline is probably a true or high-stakes problem and not a giant mutated bug. Probably.
Aside from that, another commenter thought the compliment was well deserved: “I don’t think there’s anything you CAN’T do Jamie!!! 🙌🙌🙌🙌.” And with regard to reality? They are right. From scream queen to Oscar-winning comedian, today a producer?? She’s a force of nature. It’s motivating to witness this level of constant reinvention and willingness to take on new feats.
The project is already big enough, so the description is massive. As for Jason Blum’s Blumhouse Productions, they have a proven track record, so working with their team is always a good sign. Then, with Paul Greengrass directing? That’s a power move. Greengrass is known for a particular style of filmmaking, “shaky-cam,” but the style is immersive and allows you to experience the action, so pairing it with the premise that they will have extreme fire effects as well? Yes, this will be a lot. For good reasons, though.
A commenter also expressed excitement about America Ferrera joining the cast, which is worth mentioning. Because there’s so much talent both behind and in front of the DSLR, this doesn’t feel like a side project. This is a major film being made with best-tier professionals, and Jamie Lee Curtis is helping direct it from the producer’s chair. Absolutely intended pun.

All the reactions to this new project seem positive and hopeful toward Jamie. This new project is a big next step in her career, and people appear ready to see what she brings to the table. Based on the single frame alone, Jamie Lee Curtis has already grabbed interest, so the rest will have to come in the form of intensity, edge of the seat moments, reality, and a good offer of fervor—all of which the project promises. All that remains is for it to be released on Apple TV, and in the meantime, Jamie Lee Curtis, producer, can compile well earned accolades.
