Jay Leno has opened up about being a caregiver for his beloved wife Mavis Leno as her health issues continue.
The American stand-up comedian and late night TV legend, 75, was previously granted conservatorship over his wife as she battles advanced dementia.
In a new interview, the former The Tonight Show host said how much he genuinely likes taking care of his wife, 79, and feels grateful he’s able to do so.

Speaking to People at an event, he said: “I’m not a woe-is-me person. I’m just lucky that I am able to take care of her.”
“It’s not work, because people come up and say they feel so sorry.
“I understand the sympathy, because I know a lot of people are going through it, but it’s okay.”
Her battle with advanced dementia was revealed last year when the TV star filed for conservatorship.

The couple have been married since 1980 and never had children.
Leno recently opened up on the situation in an interview on In Depth with Graham Bensinger.
“When you get married, you sort of take a vow: ‘Will I live up to this? Or will I be like a sleazy guy if something happens to my wife, I’m out banging the cashier at the mini mart?'” he said.

“No, I didn’t. I enjoy the time with my wife. I go home, I cook dinner for her, movie TV and it’s okay.”
It comes after Leno sparked concern late last year when he showed off severe bruising on his face and an eye patch over one puffy eye.
But he revealed to Inside Edition that he sustained the injury after falling down a hill while heading to dinner. He also broke his wrist at the time.
In late 2022, he also suffered burns due to a fire when he was working on a car.
