Dussehra is almost knocking on the calendar, and the Mukherjee sisters are already welcoming the goddess with love, faith, and devotion, along with a lot of glamour. They are bringing all the Bollywood style, fashion, and glam inspiration that can be mustered. Navratri is a time for everyone; Bollywood celebs are often spotted celebrating the auspicious days with tradition and love, welcoming the positive energy into their lives and wishing for a positive and successful year ahead of us. It’s not the first time the Mukherjee sisters have organized their Durga Puja, but this time it was a little more bittersweet and special than the rest.
Kajol and Rani Mukerji unveil the Durga Puja pandal
The sisters have continued the tradition of organizing their annual North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja. Just like this year , Kajol and Rani Mukerji unveiled the idol of Goddess Durga. The cousin-sisters looked absolutely stunning and gorgeous in their traditional attires. Kajol wore a beige-hued organza saree with zari border work and a red blouse. Rani was dressed in a white Bengali silk-blend saree. Both sisters opted for minimal makeup and looked like a dream.
Kajol and Rani unveiled the idol as the Durga Devi Stotra, ‘Aigiri Nandini,’ played in the background. The sisters were joined by Brahmastra director Ayan Mukherjee in the celebration; his presence was extra special this time because this was his first time celebrating Durga Puja after his father’s Deb Mukherjee’s passing, which made the celebration a lot more emotional. They were also joined by the former’s sister, Tanishaa, and their cousin, lovingly known as Debu by the family. The veteran actor passed away on March 14, 2025.
Tanishaa spoke about Debu’s presence and the fact that every year he used to be the one who organized the Durga Puja event himself. Rani Mukerji was a co- organizer for the family’s Durga Puja 2025. Tanishaa said, “It is a time of little sadness for our family, along with a little excitement because this year there have been three deaths in our family. Our Debu Kaka (Deb Mukherjee), who used to organize Durga Puja every year, is no more, and for us, it would be a little difficult to attend the puja this time. However, there is a lot of excitement as well because we are taking his dream forward.”
