Boney Kapoor’s announcement of Mom 2 has sparked immediate backlash after leaked set photos showed Khushi Kapoor and Karishma Tanna.
Khushi Kapoor, the younger daughter of Sridevi and Boney Kapoor, will appear in Mom 2, the follow-up to the film by her late mother Sridevi. Mom is a 2017 crime thriller film directed by Ravi Udyawar, with a screenplay by Girish Kohli. Recently, some leaked photos surfaced of Khushi with Karishma Tanna, whose look resembled Sridevi’s. Internet users expressed discontent, criticising Khushi’s role following The Archies, Loveyappa, and Nadaaniyaan. This development follows Boney Kapoor’s announcement of the project at the IIFA 2025 silver jubilee festivities.
Khushi Kapoor will feature in Mom 2 alongside Karishma Tanna
On Tuesday, November 4, unauthorised images from the film’s sets spread widely on social media, featuring Khushi with Karishma Tanna, who is said to have a significant role in the sequel. Although an official statement is still pending, online users voiced their disappointment, urging the creators not to damage Sridevi’s legendary movie.
The circulated images, released by Zoom TV, depict Karishma in a white ethnic suit ensemble, emerging from her vanity van, resembling Sridevi’s look from Mom. In the meantime, Khushi was spotted in a grey jacket.

Shortly after Khushi and Karishma’s pictures surfaced on Reddit, online users criticised Khushi’s role in the sequel, referencing her previous performances. Numerous individuals noted that she has received criticism for her performances in her recent three movies: The Archies, Loveyappa, and Nadaaniyaan. A user commented, “Arre yarr, kyun? Khushi behen audience ko toh khush rehne do.” Another user added, “Since Sridevi is no more, iss movie mai koi jaan bhi nahi rahegi.” Added another, “So, they were not kidding, they were actually making the sequel that too with Khushi.” A third user said, “But offers must’ve died for Khushi post that disaster of a debut. About Mom
Released in 2017, Mom was directed by Ravi Udyawar. This movie marked Sridevi’s 300th and final film before her passing in 2018. The cast also featured Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna, alongside Pakistani performers Sajal Aly and Adnan Siddiqui. The late actress received the Best Actress award posthumously for her role in Mom at the 65th National Film Awards.
