Kid Cudi Says He ‘Hated Every Minute’ Of Testifying In Diddy Trial But Found
‘Peace’ In Supporting Cassie: ‘I Love Her & Want To See Her Do Well’
Kid Cudi is opening up about his reluctance to take the stand in Diddy’s s*x trafficking trial, and why he ultimately chose to see it through.
Cudi revealed on the Call Her Daddy podcast that he declined twice before being subpoenaed, saying: “I hated every minute of it.” Despite his resistance, he shared: “I did not want to do it, but then I thought about — when I was up there — I’m here to support Cassie.”
________
The rapper, who was called to testify about his time dating Diddy’s ex, Casandra “Cassie” Ventura, claimed that Sean “Diddy” Combs had been “abusive” during their relationship and also alleged a series of disturbing incidents, including his car being set on fire.
Ultimately, Cudi (real name Scott Mescudi) said he found peace in showing up for Cassie after everything she had been through.
“Cassie is my friend, and I love her and I want to see her do well,” he continued: “I just was there to support her. That’s what, kind of, gave me peace with it. When I sat down in that chair, it was just about, ‘D**n, I don’t want to do this.’ To being like, ‘Oh man, I got to hold homegirl down and look out for her.’”
________
Cudi also reflected on his past chaotic encounters with Diddy, describing them as surreal: “I had a hard time understanding if it was reality. I was like, ‘Am I in a movie? What the f**k is going on?’ … Over the years, I just thought about it as like just some wild s**t that happened in my rock and roll life.”
________
Despite harrowing testimonies from Cudi, Cassie, and several others, Diddy’s trial ended with the mogul being found guilty on just two prostitution-related charges and acquitted on the major charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering. He has continued to deny all allegations and remains behind bars as he awaits sentencing.
