Killer Mike Issues Public Apology to Steph and Ayesha Curry

Killer Mike is making amends after receiving backlash for comments about Steph and Ayesha Curry.

The rapper addressed the issue on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast, “Club Shay Shay.”

He explained how the reactions from those around him made him realize his mistake of calling out Ayesha.

“Steph Curry! Ayesha Curry! Boy, my wife done cussed me out. My oldest daughter called me. My youngest daughter called me… homeboys that have played in the NBA called me,” he revealed.

Killer Mike acknowledged that his comments on social media were poorly considered.

“And I realized that maybe I shouldn’t smoke and get on Instagram. So let me say this, cause I appreciate you checking it—it shows you have a tremendous amount of respect for me—Mrs. Ayesha Curry and her husband Steph, I apologize for my statement being misconstrued,” he shared with Shannon Sharpe. “I was just stoned up, trying to make a joke. It wasn’t my damn business, like my wife said. So, I’m sorry, y’all.”

The controversy began after a TikTok posted in mid-September by user Bookie Woodz went viral. In it, Woodz criticized Ayesha for her comments about wanting attention from men, similar to the attention Steph allegedly receives from women. Ayesha had previously spoken on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast about how she did not expect Steph to become an NBA star. She revealed that he had initially wanted to pursue a career as a high school basketball coach.

“She wants to go be GloRilla or some s**t,” Woodz said. 

Killer Mike commented on Woodz’s video, saying, “My n***a said she wanna go be Glo!!! Man Steph doesn’t deserve the embarrassment [for real]. God bless him.”

Steph responded directly to Killer Mike, making it clear things were good in his household.

“@killermike naaaaa not you Mike. I’m cool [staying] silent and letting these other clowns have [their] moment! And you’re the worst of them @boowoodz234. But you’re better than that @killermike. Stay in your lane and let God keep blessing me like he is. We r good over here.”
