
KPop Demon Hunters is heading into movie theaters everywhere this weekend after becoming one of Netflix’s most successful films of all time.
The musical movie will be getting singalong screenings in movie theaters across the U.S. this weekend and the film is expected to best the box office, despite not playing in any AMC Theatre locations.
AMC does not run Netflix movies because of disagreement over the exclusivity window. Basically, the chain doesn’t want to run movies that are going to streaming so quickly.
KPop Demon Hunters is an anomaly for Netflix as it is being released into theaters months after making its streaming debut. Thanks to the success on Netflix and the beat going viral, over 1,000 singalong screenings have already sold out, according to Deadline.

Only Saturday and Sunday showings are happening and Deadline reports that some theaters are playing up to 16 showtimes a day to meet demand.
The movie is expected to gross $15 million or more at the box office this weekend and that will put it in first place. Weapons is expected to come in second with $13.5 million.
