
EXCLUSIVE: Mark Sonnenblick, breakout songwriter behind the anthem “Golden” from Sony and Netflix’s Kpop Demon Hunters, has signed with Kraft-Engel Management for representation and PAL Public Relations for publicity.
Sonnenblick has entered his third week as the #1 songwriter on the Billboard Hot 100, Billboard announced August 16.
Sonnenblick wrote “Golden,” which has amassed over 300 million streams on Spotify alone) with EJAE and The Black Label, crafting a song that directors Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans have credited as a creative turning point. The last song added to the movie helped crystallize the story’s emotional arc and define the lead character’s “I Want” moment, even as its message has resonated far beyond the film.
Five of Sonnenblick’s songs from Kpop Demon Hunters are currently charting simultaneously in the best 25 of the Billboard 100, with “Golden” at #2, “Your Idol” at #4, “How It’s Done,” at #14, “What It Sounds Like,” at #24 and “Free” AT #25.
Sonnenblick’s expanding body of work spans stage, film, and television. He wrote songs with Elton Johnand Shaina Taub for The Devil Wears Prada musical, and he collaborated with Pasek & Paul on Apple TV+’s Spirited (2022) including work on the viral anthem “Good Afternoon. He also wrote for Shawn Mendes on Sony’s Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile (2022). Other projects include Searchlight’s Sundance darling Theater Camp (2023) and the musical Midnight at the Never Get.
