An expired Hollywood moment-for-the-ages and with a tinge of old school nostalgia- to show how friendships really do stand the test of time from Lance Bass and Danielle Fishel. The former NSYNC member put up his own Instagram throwback featuring two pictures, one from their prom 27 years ago (yes, 27 years ago), and the other following their prodigious journey to the present. The caption simply read, “324 months later…safe to say we’ve come a long way from the hover hand.” If you remember the awkward prom moment where Lance barely touched her shoulder, then you are really OG status.

That post crashed the convoluted memory highway, filled floors with laughter, and spilled reactions that kept questioning, “wait, HOW long has it been?!” One fan hilariously said, “Would have been the most iconic lavender marriage of all time. & the kids would have been so beautiful. But we live in a time where he doesn’t have to be ashamed of who he is. So, a win is a win.” Another said, “My forever favorite prom couple (even though I was so jealous of Topanga).” Agree.
The sceneries seem so amusing. Another couldn’t grasp the fact that Lance was able to be that close to Topanga and still come out as gay, “Hold up, come on Lance…..come on bro you had the best advantage, lance wasn’t supposed to get that close to her and still come back gay….not Topanga bro.” The internet, man. Never change.
Some just started to vibe with the wholesome, as one fan said, “Decades of friendship looks good on y’all,” to which another replied, “It’s the spiked frosted tips that made me fall for you, but immediately understand why you’d only want to be friends.” Brutal. Accurate. But brutal.
Another international one said in Spanish: “Siempre me gustó más Topanga cuando era rara,” followed in Russian by “Вы двое самые милые Тельцы.” Astrology fans, unite!
The post then turned things wild for Boy Meets World stans, one of them in full honesty, “As a young mother at 18, I so considered naming my immediately 34-year-old daughter Topanga… ahhh I went with Caitlin.” Close call.
The mostly fun occasion was unfortunately also a stark reminder of many serious considerations about the glories that shall never return, of how different life is from the way it was back in the ’90s- for Lance, there is no more disguise to hide behind, and for the audience, being a few terrific years away from seeing these two grace their screens. One fan succinctly put it: “Great example for all of us.”
Then, as if that wasn’t heartwarming enough, someone gave the ultimate shout: “I hope you guys do that Prom movie together.” Hollywood, learn from this.

And so did all the 27 years later speak for the nostalgia and chaos of commentary gifted by Lance Bass and Danielle Fishel. Some things never change, and if they ever do, we really wouldn’t want them to.
