A huge police response is ongoing at this hour on the campus of UMass Boston in Dorchester.
Students received an emergency alert and the university’s social media is urging people to avoid the area of the residence hall east building and campus center. Parts of the campus are on lockdown, according to a reporter in the scene.
Students can be seen walking away from the campus on foot.
Boston and State Police with rifles are on the scene and focused on the area of student dorms near the Harbor Point development.
