Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton sings the praises of his former teammate Bottas, whom he calls one of the most honest and funniest people with whom he has ever shared a workspace. This goes as an important career step to the Finnish driver as Bottas heads into his next chapter with the Cadillac Formula 1 team.

After a picture post of the British driver grinning while clad in his racing suit, captioned by A glowing analysis of Cadillac’s new Finn from Lewis Hamilton, the post soon garnered heavy attention from the Formula 1 fan base around the world, along with reactions for and against.
In more than one of these “mateship” occasions, Hamilton called Bottas his “best teammate,” thus perhaps indicating how much he misses working with Bottas-giving very valuable input to the engineers and helping to create the car. Certainly, the years between 2017-2021 at Mercedes, in which the two gentlemen won several constructors’ championships for their team, must stand as one of the most successful joint ventures of their times.
There were some fans backing the comments from their side, one commenting simply, “Best team mate ever … Valteri …,” while another said, “They are bros for life, fr.” The above camaraderie between the two presumably casts a long shadow that continues to impress the F1 fraternity till today.
The praises, however, were never unanimous. Some felt Hamilton could be feeling generous with praise because he is struggling at the moment. “Of course he misses Bottas, he got his arse whipped 2 years out of 3 by Russell & is being beating in every F1 race metric by Leclerc,” one user said while referring to Hamilton’s current teammates at Mercedes and Ferrari.”
Another one went: “He misses Bottas cause Russell and Leclerc destroyed him in equal machinery,” referring to the present racers’ dynamics. Bottas was constantly heard of as Hamilton’s wingman, never becoming a true competitor.
Most discussions were about Bottas’s transformation into something entirely new. “From Mercedes wingman? Cadillac main man. Glow up complete,” exclaimed an observer regarding the transformation of Bottas into the lead figure within his new team. Another one was praising him, “With a wealth of experience, Bottas is able to provide invaluable car feedback to the engineers. This feedback is crucial as all they want is to improve the car as quickly as possible.”
Some leaned on humor quite a bit. “How many times did he have move over for you? Slotas,” joked a commentator, referring to infamous team orders given to Bottas at Mercedes. “Yes, the subordinate that helped you win titles,” said another with a laughing emoji.
An international viewpoint came from a German gentleman: “Lewis Hamilton about Cadillac’s new Finn Valtteri Bottas: ‘One of the most honest, funniest, and most sincere people you can work with. I miss working with him.’ He even calls Bottas his ‘best teammate’ – and trusts him to quickly move the new team forward with experience and pace.”
Bottas stepping into a new phase with Cadillac, alongside the public backing of Hamilton, was a testament to the respect between the two champions despite their opposing history. The mixed reactions of the fans are just a reflection of how complex F1 is, where camaraderie and rivalry go hand in hand. The transition of Bottas to Cadillac means more than just changing teams; it means a significant career shift from support to lead.

In recent updates, Lewis Hamilton is also sharing moments of relaxation before focused races, emphasizing that even champions need moments of peace. Another aspect worth noting is that the penalties Hamilton faces could further complicate his dynamic with Bottas and others in the industry.
