New details have emerged surrounding the death of Limp Bizkit founding member Sam Rivers.
Days after the musician passed away aged 48, authorities have revealed that his death was treated as a possible cardiac arrest.
A spokesperson for the St Johns County, Florida Fire Rescue told TMZ and People that they responded to a call on Saturday for a “nonresponsive person in cardiac arrest”.
Meanwhile, TMZ reports that authorities “responded to an attended death at that address”, per a St Johns County Sheriff representative.
Attended deaths occur when a patient dies at home under the care of an attending doctor or hospice nurse due to an existing illness. In these instances the cause of death is often a pre-existing condition.
Rivers’ cause of death currently remains unclear.

It it known that the bassist left the nu metal band back in 2015 for health reasons that were later revealed to be liver ailments due to excessive drinking.
Rivers sought treatment for his health, which included a liver transplant, before rejoining the band in 2018.
”I got liver disease from excessive drinking … I had to leave Limp Bizkit in 2015 because I felt so horrible, and a few months after that I realised I had to change everything because I had really bad liver disease,” Rivers told writer Jon Wiederhorn for his book Raising Hell (Backstage Tales From The Livse of Metal Legends).
“I quit drinking and did everything the doctors told me. I got treatment for the alcohol and got a liver transplant, which was a perfect match.”
Rivers death was revealed in a tribute from the band’s remaining members, vocalist Fred Durst, drummer John Otto, guitarist Wes Borland and turntablist DJ Lethal, posted on Instagram.
“Today we lost our brother. Our bandmate. Our heartbeat,” they said.
“Sam Rivers wasn’t just our bass player – he was pure magic. The pulse beneath every song, the calm in the chaos, the soul in the sound.
“From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced. His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous.
“We shared so many moments – wild ones, quiet ones, beautiful ones – and every one of them meant more because Sam was there.
“He was a once-in-a-lifetime kind of human. A true legend of legends. And his spirit will live forever in every groove, every stage, every memory.
“We love you, Sam. We’ll carry you with us, always. Rest easy, brother. Your beat never ends,” they shared.
Rivers was one of the founding members of the band, which was created in 1994 in Jacksonville, Florida.
They found success in the 2000s with Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water and Results May Vary, as well as songs such as Nookie and Rollin’.
