
A man was critically injured in a shooting Wednesday evening near a public housing development in Jamaica Plain.
A crime scene was set up at South Street Apartments, which border Saint Rose Street. Some onlookers from across the street at the Happy Supermarket reported hearing 8 to 10 ten gunshots.
Officers responded shortly before 6 p.m. to 15 Saint Rose St. for reports of a person shot, Sergeant Detective John Boyle, a department spokesperson said.
Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from a gun shot wound, Boyle said.
He was taken to a hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries, according to Boyle.
His condition was not known.
Homicide detectives are currently on scene and investigating, officials said.
No arrests have been made, Boyle said shortly after 8:30 p.m.
