Mark Sanchez’s ex and the mother of his son is speaking out.
UK-born model Bobby T (real name Erin Campaneris), 44, broke her silence on Sunday about the shocking stabbing and subsequent arrest of her ex, former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez, in Indianapolis. Erin shares an 8-year-old son, Daniel, with the 38-year-old athlete.
She took to her Instagram Story one week after news broke of Sanchez’s arrest to issue a rare public statement.
“I am aware of the serious criminal charges currently facing my son’s father, Mark Sanchez,” she wrote. “My foremost priority has always been, and remains, our eight year old son, Daniel. I chose to remain silent publicly to protect Daniel.”
Erin went on to explain that the news didn’t come as a shock to her.
“today that everything is out in the open, my focus hasn’t changed. I have always been concerned for his safety and for what he is exposed to. Sadly, none of this is surprising to me,” she continued.
She added that she learned of the incident at the same time as everyone else.
“Like everyone else, I learned of the horrific event through a news alert on my phone while sitting next to Daniel. I still know only what is publicly available,” she shared. “At the end of the day, I’m simply a mama to a very sweet young boy doing my best to protect his peace.”
Sanchez, who married actress Perry Mattfeld in May 2023, is currently facing multiple criminal charges. Mattfeld announced in February that she and Sanchez are expecting twins. The couple originally met in 2017 while Perry was in Chicago filming Shameless and Sanchez was playing for the Bears. They were introduced by his teammate Scotty McKnight and quickly bonded.
“We both went to USC, both actually born at the same hospital, both Hispanic, a lot of weird things,” Perry told Glamour in a recent interview.
The incident that led to Sanchez’s arrest occurred eight days before his processing by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. According to court documents, Sanchez was stabbed in the chest after an alleged altercation with 69-year-old grease truck driver Perry Tole in Indianapolis. The confrontation reportedly began when Sanchez confronted Tole over a parking spot in a hotel loading dock.
Sanchez is today facing one Level 5 felony charge for battery resulting in serious bodily injury, along with three misdemeanor charges: battery resulting in injury, public intoxication, and unlawful entry of a motor vehicle.
His initial court hearing, originally set for October 7, was waived, and his next court date is scheduled for November 5.
Meanwhile, Tole has filed a civil lawsuit against Sanchez and his employer, Fox Sports, claiming he suffered “severe permanent disfigurement” and serious injuries to his head, jaw, and neck as a result of the alleged attack.
