
Mason Thames is dishing on the upcoming How to Train Your Dragon sequel!
The 18-year-old actor is set to reprise his role as Hiccup for the second live-action installment, which was officially announced earlier this year.
While the movie won’t come out until 2027, Mason recently revealed when filming is set to start and shared what he’s looking forward to!

“I go out to start November 1,” Mason shared with The Direct. “I’m very, very excited. That character means the world to me. So the fact I get to go back and do it again and get back on the saddle is really cool. And I’ve seen a lot of concepts, and there’s a lot of cool people joining the team, and I’m super happy.”
“I can’t say too much, but the second one has a very special place in my heart, and is personally my favorite of the trilogy,” he added. “And I really love what we’re doing with it. So yeah.”
In another interview, Mason shared that he’s really looking forward to “my fire swords,” he told THR. “I really love my fire sword. I think it’s really cool (Laughs).”
The actor also teased the upcoming fight sequences in a third recent interview.
“I mean, I can’t give away any scenes specifically. I can just say that I’ve talked to the director… and all of the flight sequences and action things we’re doing is, um, they’re really cool,” he told Who Let Us Out. “I mean, kind of like what we did with the first movie, and this one especially, we’re just elevating everything we can and making it bigger and cooler and just giving everything more depth. So, I’m really excited for people to see what we do with this one because the second one has a very special place in my heart. So, I’m really excited to just get into it and for people to see it.”
If you didn’t know, or you forgot, HTTYD 2 picks up five years after the first movie, and sees “Hiccup and Toothless discover a secret ice cave filled with hundreds of wild dragons and a mysterious Dragon Rider, the two friends find themselves at the center of an epic battle to cut the future of men and dragons!”
