
Due to a car fire, the eastbound side of the Massachusetts Turnpike was closed in Boston on Thursday afternoon.The Massachusetts Department of Transportation reported that traffic was stopped on the eastbound side just after 2 p.m. Officials said the fire was inside the Prudential Tunnel. Boston firefighters and Massachusetts State Police Troopers were seen working on the Mass Pike. Surveillance video from inside the tunnel shows firefighters working in thick smoke to extinguish the flames. The roadway was closed to traffic before Exit 133. Boston fire officials reported that the fire was extinguished and MassDOT said the lanes were all reopened at 2:45 p.m. Heavy delays were visible on traffic cameras and reported on our 5 Alert Traffic map.
