BOSTON – Riding a three-game win streak, the Boston University men’s soccer team will host Colgate on Friday night with Patriot League action set for a 6 p.m. start time.
The Terriers most recently claimed a 4-1 home win over Loyola Maryland this past Sunday to move into a tie-for-second in the PL standings at nine points with five conference games left. The Raiders blanked Navy, 2-0, last weekend following scoreless ties against Lafayette and Bucknell to move into a tie-for-fifth at five points.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU won the last three contests against Loyola Maryland, Harvard and then-No. 24 Bucknell by a combined score of 10-5 while accomplishing the feat of recording at least three goals in three games apiece for the first time since 2003.
- Five Terriers have scored multiple goals this fall with five totaling multiple assists.
- Two men have accomplished the feat so far of earning both multiple goals and assists. Sophomore Pharis Petrica leads BU at 11 points thanks to three goals and five assists, while junior Lapo Romieri has eight points (2g,4a) despite attempting just five shots on the season.
- Thanks to his earned brace against Loyola Maryland, junior Andrea Di Blasio has scored a team-high four goals while adding an assist for nine points.
- Senior Quin DeLaMater earned both PL Defensive Player of the Week recognition and a spot on TopDrawerSoccer’s Team of the Week by totaling five points (1g,3a) in the last two wins.
- Senior Sheraz Saadat has started each of the last three games, posting a .762 slash percentage alongside 1.67 goals against average.
- Opponents are averaging 1.2 extra shots per game with a 49-42 lead in corner kicks, but BU owns a .566 shot-on-goal percentage while holding teams to .441 percentage.
SCOUTING COLGATE
- The Raiders are 1-3-2 on the road after starting the season with a 3-0 victory at Stonehill and later suffering shutout losses at Syraucse (3-0), UConn (3-0) and American (1-0).
- Seven Raiders have scored at least one goal with Cole Ramey leading the way at three goals alongside an assist for team-high seven points.
- Blake Pipkin has recorded 27 shots attempts, 17 more than the closest teammate, and has a team-high two assists with a goal.
- Highlighted by seven shutouts, Eric Widrick has played all 990 minutes at net, posting a .862 slash percentage and 0.73 goals against average.
- The Raiders own a 9-8 advantage in goals scored despite opponents averaging 2.3 more shots per game (11.6-9.3) with a 51-44 lead in corner kicks.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU leads the all-time series, 11-5-3, with the teams eliminating one another in each of the last two PL tournaments.
- The Terriers earned a 1-0 road victory last October thanks to Di Blasio converting on a penalty kick at 88:59, but then came up short in the PL semifinal at home, 1-0, despite attempting 15 of the 16 game’s shots.
- Both games contested during the 2023 campaign took place at Nickerson Field with BU first recording a scoreless draw and then dispatching the Raiders, 2-0, in the semis en route to winning the PL title.
LOOKING AHEAD
- BU will conclude the three-game homestand with Northeastern on Tuesday (Oct. 14) at 6 p.m.
