A number of counties are currently under a Status Yellow weather warning as Ireland is braced for a ‘dull and blustery day’ with outbreaks of heavy rainfall
Met Eireann has warned of persistent rain and localised flooding amid a weather warning for four counties.
Clare, Kerry, Galway and Mayo have been banger with a Status Yellow rain alert for the grim conditions.
The national forecaster warns there will be “persistent rain, turning heavy at times” and lists localised flooding, difficult travel conditions and poor visibility as possible impacts.
The weather warning came into effect at 8pm last night and will remain valid until 8pm this evening.
Sharing today’s nationwide weather forecast (Monday November 3rd), Met Eireann says it will be dull and wet, but “quite mild”.
A forecaster said: “Today will be dull and blustery with outbreaks of rain, heaviest across the western half of the country with ongoing potential for localised flooding.
“Quite mild with highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees in fresh to strong southwest winds.
“Tonight, outbreaks of rain will continue in Munster and south Leinster, heavy in places with fresh southerly winds.
“Elsewhere will be drier with clear spells and isolated showers in light to moderate southerly winds. Lowest temperatures of 10 to 14 degrees.”
Tomorrow (Tuesday November 4th) will be another mild day and there will be outbreaks of rain.
Met.ie says: “On Tuesday morning and afternoon, outbreaks of rain will spread northwards across the country.
“The rain will clear northeastwards to scattered showers in the evening. Highest temperatures 13 to 16 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds, easing later.
“Clear spells and showers at first on Tuesday night. It will turn cloudier overnight with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle spreading from the south.
“Lowest temperatures of 8 to 12 degrees, a little milder in the southeast, in light to moderate southeast winds.”
Looking ahead to the weather for the remainder of the week, conditions are expected to remain “unsettled with frequent spells of wet and blustery weather” and “relatively mild and frost free.”
There is uncertainty in the details of the weekend weather forecast, but Met Eireann’s “current indications suggest that it will remain unsettled next weekend with Atlantic low pressure systems bringing further spells of rain.”
