Michael Buble coined one unique word and woke that all-encompassing feeling of nostalgia in many people of today. The Canadian crooner took to Instagram to talk about having shared the stage with the Italian superstar, Laura Pausini-thanks for reminding us that it was almost 20 years ago: Does that sink in? The caption was short but meaningful: “Twenty years ago, I had the honour of sharing the stage with @laurapausini. Time really does fly when you’re doing what you love with people who inspire you.”

A contingent of gasps departed from the spectators when it dawned that it really had been 20 years since the unforgettable duet. The post didn’t show any footage of their performance, but with nostalgia being such a strong driver in the social media world, the comments section erupted in love. It was a strange mixture of awe, disbelief, and outright parties calling for a reunion tour.
That one comment sounded just like an echo of what everyone was thinking: “My favourite part of the show. Love Laura and love you (ps: 20 years??? How come you 2 still look the same?)”
They don’t seem to look like they’ve aged very much since then. Another one chimed in, “20 years!? Omg, I feel old today,” and all of us in unison: Same here.
Of course, they remained for “Amazing Duet!!! He is the new Sinatra and Laura a great voice. So sad she don’t sing more in English!!!” Maybe that comparison of Buble with Sinatra isn’t new, but putting “Sinatra” in the middle of Laura’s great voice feels just right!
Spanish and Italian comments showed up as well. One asked, “And when will you get together again?” with other comments in the same vein calling them “geniuses” who need to reunite on stage. The need is clear, dear friends; somebody get these two on Zoom and work out a comeback for 2024!
Another heartwarming memory- tinged with nostalgia- came from a user: “When I think back to the Duets wrap rave where you and your band played (and I knew then you had that magic) it remains wild to me that you were just casually playing a wrap rave. An unexpected treat-how lucky we were!” Even before stadium tours, Buble just knew how to make magic.
And we can’t leave out the fan who called this collab their “favorite duet ever!” The post was instead a celebration of the greatest feats in their careers, but in paying tribute to those feats, it also reminded us why partnerships like these get stuck in our heads: The smooth jazz charm of Buble in tandem with the emotional spectrum of Pausini sparked that timeless. Judging from the remarks, though, nobody would complain if round two spawns in the studio very shortly.
So here goes a toast to nostalgia, not aging, and hopefully another shared microphone for these two before another 20 years slip by! Because, in all seriousness, the world might just be ready for another rendition of “The Best Is Yet to Come.”
