New track Friday is always a breath of fresh air, and today is no exception, thanks in part to the lady of the hour, Monaleo.
Fresh off the heels of her viral pro-Black anthem, “Sexy Soulaan,” Monaleo has returned with her highly anticipated album, “Who Did the Body.” Described by the rising rap star as a “southern gothic-inspired project,” she kicks things off with “Life After Death,” an analogy of what it means to be the baddest and biggest even in the afterlife. The previously released “Putting Ya Dine” also found a spot on the tracklist, though it’s the remix of “We On Dat” that is quickly becoming a standout. Monaleo recruited Bun B, Paul Wall, and Lil Keke for an ultra-Houston spin on the already popular anthem. Across 12 tracks, Monaleo combines elements of the Baptist church, Southern flair, and plenty of punchlines, making “Who Did the Body” a unique body of work that complements her growing catalog.
Chika has surprised fans with a retrospective titled “Float.” The beautifully composed record reflects on the simplicity of childhood, as well as the hardships and beauty of the track come-up. “Float” also shares the grief of missing those no longer around, a tear-jerking reality for many. This record follows September’s release, “Stimming,” which arrived after a hiatus of sorts for Chika. Though this lyricist hasn’t unveiled a full body of work since 2023’s “Samson: The Album,” it seems that Chika is steadily getting back into the musical groove, a refreshing treat for her supporters.
Social media star turned rapper Dess Dior continues to showcase her talents in the booth with her new single, “Most Likely.” This high-energy tune gets straight to the point within the first 20 seconds: “Rich b***h, I’ma broke n***a nightmare.” From there, Dess flexes her bankroll, high standards, and quite literally, her influence. “Most Likely” adds another fun tune to Dess’ string of rave releases, including last month’s “IDC.” With an EP on the horizon, this St. Louis beauty continues to test the waters and grow the musical side of her fanbase.
These three are not the only heavy hitters to drop today. New releases also arrived from Gucci Mane, Rod Wave, and even Wale. Scroll below to add the new and greatest to your playlist.
