Here we go into the second half of September with a tranquil weather pattern and seasonable temperatures. For many, September is one of the best months of the year. No need for air conditioning or heat. If you think about it, it’s actually one of the few months when we don’t need either.
After some morning fog, sunny skies will greet Boston and New England on Monday, with temperatures in the 70s to near 80 all week. Humidity remains in check this week with dew points at or a little below 60 degrees. This is the level at which the air is comfortable for most people and allows temperatures at night to fall to the 50s.

Nexr rain chances – South Coast could get anthem midweek
The chance of precipitation is nearly zero for Greater Boston the next several days as, once again, we continue along this dry September.
There’s one exception to the rule: Along the extreme South Coast of Massachusetts, sometime later Wednesday or Thursday. Low pressure will be circulating along the Carolina coastline, bringing significant rain to that area. The rain shield is not going to make it too far north, but some showers may cross the South Coast when the storm makes its closest approach during the middle part of the week.

This is also the final week of astronomical summer. Autumn arrives Monday, Sept. 22, at 2:19 p.m. This week also marks the greatest loss of daylight, with nearly three minutes a day disappearing as sunrises get later and the sunsets get earlier.

Greater Boston: Look for temperatures in the 70s both Monday and Tuesday, with morning lows in the 50s, along with sunshine. There could be some ground fog to start the day.
Southeastern Mass.: Temperatures will be just over 70 along the coastline both Monday and Tuesday with lots of sunshine and patchy fog each morning.
Central/Western Mass.: September sunshine will boost temperatures in the upper 70s to near 80 by Tuesday. Look for widespread ground fog each morning, which will take a few hours to dissipate after sunrise, as temperatures will be in the upper 40s to the mid-50s.
Cape and Islands: Look for plenty of sunshine after morning fog Monday and Tuesday. Temperatures will be in the low 70s in the afternoon. Wind will be light.
Rhode Island: Look for patchy morning fog each day with temperatures in the 50s and highs in the low to mid-70s in the afternoon with sunshine.
New Hampshire: Temperatures will be 75 to 80 in the afternoon both Monday and Tuesday with nearly 100 percent sunshine. Temperatures will start in the 40s to low 50s along with fog each day.
