September is almost upon us, and for many renters in Boston, the first day of the month is moving day.
On a day when U-Hauls clog the streets and people lug heavy furniture up cramped stairwells, Samuel Adams will be sending out a truck with movers ready to lend a helping hand to a lucky few.
The brewery has been spreading the word about its moving day promotion through a social media campaign starring local content creators Tommy Guarino, Prosciutto Papi, Your Cousin From Boston, and Everyday Maggie.
All four appear in a teaser video on Instagram encouraging people to use the hashtag #SamMovingDay and share their own moving stories. If you comment on the post and specify which Boston neighborhood you’re moving to, there’s a chance the Samuel Adams moving crew could show up to help you.
“Moving Day in Boston is chaos,” the Instagram post states. “That’s why this year, Sam Adams is sending in backup. On September 1, we’re rolling through town with a truck full of movers and supplies, ready to give you a much-needed breather. Sign up and there’s a chance our crew shows up at your place to help with the heavy lifting.”
To enter, check out the moving day video on the Samuel Adams Instagram page and leave a comment stating which Boston neighborhood you’re moving to along with the hashtag #SamMovingDay.
The deadline to enter is 12 p.m. on Friday, according to the Instagram post.
In the video, the social media personalities describe moving day in Boston as a sweaty, chaotic nightmare.
“It’s the worst day of the year in Boston,” Guarino says. “I mean, wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.”
And that’s why Samuel Adams is stepping up to help (along with it being a perfect way to promote their beverages) and pitch in.
“Three flights of stairs?” Guarino says in the video. “We’ll be there.”
“Broken elevator? We’ll be there,” said Chad McDonough, known as The Prosciutto Papi. “No elevator? We’ll be there.”
The video, which was posted Monday, has garnered more than 780 likes and plenty of amusing comments.
“Meet me in Allston and bring the rat traps,” wrote one commenter.
”Just don’t bring the Sam Adam’s truck on to Storrow!!!!” quipped another.
In addition to providing muscle on moving day, Sam Adams is also offering free moving boxes at their taproom — Bostonians can pick up boxes starting Thursday, while supplies last — as well as a “Welcome to Boston” $5 rebate for 12-packs, two six-packs, or three singles.
Sam Adams is also awarding a $500 Hotels.com gift card to two winners who enter a social giveaway on Instagram.
