The eight-episode series will be showrun, written, and executive produced by Glen Mazzara (The Shield, The Walking Dead) and comes from AGBO, the studio founded by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo.
Here’s the official logline: “In this action-packed thriller, a mercenary (Sy) embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue hostages in Libya. Trapped between warring factions and ruthless killers, he must navigate life-or-death choices while confronting deep emotional wounds. The series explores the trauma, betrayal, and moral conflicts of characters pushed to the edge.”
The new series expands Netflix’s wildly successful Extraction franchise. The first film, starring Chris Hemsworth, broke streaming records when it premiered in 2020, and its 2023 sequel spent seven weeks in Netflix’s Global leading 10, earning over 123 million views.
No premiere date has been announced yet, but filming is expected to begin soon. Here’s what we know about the characters so far!
