Natalie Joy is clarifying why she and her husband Nick Viall have stopped sharing their daughter’s face online.
On Sunday, Aug. 10, the podcaster, 26, did a Q&A on her Instagram and was asked by one of her followers if there was “any reason” she and her husband had stopped posting their 17-month-old daughter River Rose’s face on their social media.
“Getting a lot of these so just gonna go ahead and get this out of the way,” Joy wrote in response. “Yes we decided to stop sharing River’s face publicly, honestly 1 to [sic] many people ‘recognized’ River at the park or at the airport and that made us think about it and ultimately it just made us uncomfortable.”
“Also the internet is a scary place. Wanna protect her at all costs,” she continued. “And ya know what we are honestly finding it very easy to still share our lives but just use a photo where her face isn’t front and center 🫶.”

The couple first became parents in February 2024 with the birth of their daughter River Rose, two months before the couple tied the knot on a Georgia farm the following April.
In a joint Instagram post, Viall and Joy announced that they’d welcomed their first baby together with a few sweet photos. Sharing a snap of their sleeping baby, the couple also included an adorable picture of their newborn daughter cuddling on Viall’s chest, as well as a photo of the couple holding their new daughter’s hands.
“River Rose Viall 🤍 2-2-2024 named after Natalie’s great grandmother and niece…the best part of life starts immediately 🦢🕊️☁️💗,” they wrote in their caption.
Since then, the two have shared their life with their little one online, including posting series of adorable photos on Instagram in honor of their daughter’s first birthday this past February. In one photo, River could be seen wearing a frilly sheer dress and white bows in her hair, adorably eating a rainbow sprinkle cake.
They then included photos of River from throughout the year, including pictures from her birth, from the couple’s wedding, and a shot of the family of three at her birthday event.
“The fastest a year has gone by 💗 happy 1st birthday to our sweet mami river rose. you’re a dream come true,” they wrote in their caption.
