Ne-Yo opened up about his “phenomenal” polyamorous relationship with “four beautiful ladies.”
“I’m in a great space,” the “So Sick” rapper, 45, revealed during an appearance on Kai Cenat’s YouTube stream on Wednesday, September 10 (via People). “I am currently in a polyamorous relationship. I have four beautiful ladies that move with me on the regular.”
Ne-Yo (real name Shaffer Chimere Smith) went public with his polyamorous lifestyle in February, following his split from ex-wife Crystal Renay Williams in 2022. At the time, he introduced his girlfriends as Cristina (a.k.a. “Pretty Baby”), Arielle (a.k.a. “Twin Flame”), Moneii (a.k.a “Phoenix Feather”) and Bri (a.k.a. “Sexy Lil’ Somethin’”).
During his appearance on Cenat’s stream, Ne-Yo spoke about the practicalities of his four relationships. For example, they all sleep in extra-large Alaskan King beds that Ne-Yo compared to “two California King [mattresses] next to each other.”
Viewers also learned that Ne-Yo is not “legally married” to any of the four women he’s seeing, yet he still considers each of them his “wives.”
Asked why he decided to pursue polyamory after his divorce, Ne-Yo candidly admitted: “I’m 45 years old. At this point in my life, everything I do is about what’s best for me, what’s best for my kids [and] what’s best for my tribe. That’s it.”
The musician went on, “I’m going to keep it a buck with you. I was married before this to one woman. Things didn’t go well. I made my mistakes. We got divorced. A lot of people got hurt in the process, and I told myself at that moment I ain’t lying to nobody about nothing ever again.”
Ne-Yo mentioned he was already seeing one of his current “wives” when he broke the news to her that he wanted to pursue multiple women at the same time.

“I went, ‘Listen, you know I rock with you. I absolutely rock with you. But it ain’t just you,’” he explained. “‘I also rock with her, and her, and her. So what I wanna do is bring this whole thing together. If you with it, let’s rock. If you’re not, that’s cool too. No love lost. You go your way and I go mine. That’s the only way it works.’”
The Grammy Award-winning musician is a father of seven. He shares daughter Madilyn Grace, born in 2010, and son Mason Evan, born in 2011, with former Real Housewives of Atlanta star Monyetta Shaw-Carter, and later had sons Shaffer Chimere Jr. and Roman Alexander-Raj, born in 2016 and 2018, respectively, and daughter Isabella Rose, born in 2021, with ex-wife Williams. Ne-Yo and former partner Sade Jenea Bagnerise are parents to sons Braiden and Brixton, born in 2021 and 2023, respectively.
In February, Ne-Yo confirmed during a radio interview that he was honest with all of his children about pursuing polyamory.
“I answer them [truthfully],” he insisted during an appearance on The Rickey Smiley Morning Show. “[It’s] honesty. I’m not lying to nobody, not even my children.”
He went on, “It’s like, ‘Hey, this is daddy’s girlfriend.’ And so is that, and so is that, and so is that. She gonna make you some cereal, she gonna cook lunch and she gonna wash your clothes.’ And it’s all good.”
Ne-Yo also stressed that he wasn’t “manipulating” or “brainwashing” any of his four girlfriends.
“Everybody’s honest,” Ne-Yo insisted. “Everybody’s telling the truth. Everybody is consenting. I feel like I wasted a lot of time just being dishonest about things, to the point where had I taken this approach initially, I could’ve saved myself a lot of headache and heartache.”
