While much of the attention has gone to the Ty Galpin buzz—did he, could he, should he be allowed to finally have the redemption arc that fans are begging for?—Netflix dropped this esoteric trailer, starring Jenna Ortega’s famously deadpan Wednesday Addams.

Two eerily still frames of Wednesday in bed, one with her eyes closed and the other staring down the lens with an unsettling monitor-like intensity, dance on Instagram walls while begging for fractured-rightness-layered weirdly funny text reading, “I’m up,” a form of dark humor much favored by the show. The visuals are so gorgeous they could kill, but the comment section soon erupted into a battlefield with Tyler fans begging for his salvation.
“Tyler… OMG just please stay alive, love you,” one user cried out, the comment being repeated dozens of times after others. Another user likened him to Anakin Skywalker saying he was “the Anakin of Wednesday… but with a good ending.” At least a few viewers were left stunned: “Thought nothing could surprise me in Wednesday 2… and boom! a Hyde on my screen.”
Of course, Netflix is not everybody’s favorite choice of channel for shows to be scheduled upon. “Dear Netflix, no one likes the way you’re cutting seasons into parts,” an angry rant appeared from a weary binger, stemming from the September 3 premiere date. Others have gone far enough to joke amid their suffering with one plainly asking, “Why till the 3rd of September?! 😭😭😩”
The trailer even gave a fresh boost to the campaign for Percy Hynes White’s return as Xavier Thorpe in season 3, with one fan flooding the comment section with “WE NEED @PERCY” alongside a series of rescue emojis. Meanwhile, sharp-eyed viewers were busy pondering the chances of the jester-costumed figure being none other than Pugsley in disguise- a testament to how weirdness unleashes a thousand theories from the Addams Family.
Yet, the mere fact that whether Tyler lives or dies is up for debate is all too evident. “Pls redemption arc of Tyler I beg you,” another comment screamed, sharing that desperation felt by all. If Netflix listens or not, well… that’s a story for a different day. But with hype like this, this season’s going to be yet another record-breaker following the number-one-ranked first installment.

A little chaos, both on- and off-screen, wouldn’t hurt at all this season-the ticking clock toward September just suddenly got more insufferable.
