
EXCLUSIVE: Omari Hardwick (Power), Tavon Olds-Sample (Rob Peace), Reggie Lochard (When The Well Runs Dry) and Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls) are attached to star in coming-of-age indie feature Shadow Dance.
Olds-Sample, who is best known for portraying “middle Michael” in the Broadway show MJ The Musical, will play “a young dancer, Amare, whose dream of stardom collides with a world of vice and manipulation. When his father casts him out for who he is, he seeks solace in the arms of a mysterious benefactor whose generosity conceals a dark undercurrent.”
Cast also includes Omar J. Dorsey (Queen Sugar), Adrienne Warren (The Woman King) and Jasmine Guy (The Vampire Diaries). Filming is being eyed for Q1, 2026.
Written and produced by Reggie Lochard, the drama is being produced by Ty Walker (Imperium) under the Braveheart Entertainment banner, and will be directed by Kelley Kali (Jagged Mind). Finance comes from private equity sources, we’re told.
The full synopsis reads: “Amare Jordan is an aspiring dancer who finds himself out on the streets after his father walks in on him in bed with another man. today on his own, he must navigate the harsh realities of being on his own and fending for himself, all the while trying to make his dreams of becoming a professional dancer come to life. Scared and alone, he meets Dennis Knight, a seemingly kind and generous man who eventually takes him down a rabbit hole of drugs, sex and lies.”
