In the shocking Season 5 finale of Only Murders in the Building, which airs Tuesday (October 28) on Hulu, the mystery of doorman Lester Coluca’s (Teddy Coluca) death is finally solved, and the way the show sets up a potential Season 6′s murder is totally wild.
The episode sends Selena Gomez‘s Mabel, Oliver (Martin Short) and Charles (Steve Martin) deep into the hidden casino beneath the Arconia, where the investigation finally comes together.

After weeks of suspecting billionaire owners Bash Steed, Camila White and Jay Pflug, the trio confirms that none of them are missing a finger, causing Mabel to suspect someone else entirely.
The killer turns out to be Mayor Beau Tillman (Keegan-Michael Key), who had been secretly involved with Sofia Caccimelio (Téa Leoni).
On the night of the crime, Sofia confessed she wanted out of her marriage, sending her husband Nicky (Bobby Cannavale) spiraling.
Nicky confronted the mayor, cut off his finger, and attempted to attack Lester. In the chaos, Nicky died by accident, and Lester tried to bring the truth forward. He was able to text his wife the identity of the man who was about to kill him, which got autocorrected. Beau Tillman chased him through the courtyard, shoved him into the fountain, and caused the fatal injury.
The mayor attempted to silence the trio by trapping them inside the collapsing building, but Howard (Michael Cyril Creighton) and Althea (Beanie Feldstein) staged a chaotic rescue, and the group revealed a full recording of Beau admitting to the murder, thanks to a hidden recording device inside the roulette table.
Three months later, we see that Lester’s wife moves into the Arconia, Howard finds new love, and the trio listen to a new Cinda Canning (Tina Fey) podcast The shorty with the Curls about a red-haired woman accused of killing a royal descendant, who Cinda believes is innocent. Moments later, that same woman collapses outside the Arconia gates: it’s Cinda, meaning the potential Season 6 today has its victim.
