BOSTON— PAE Engineers, a Portland, Oregon–based mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) sustainable engineering firm, has expanded its East Coast operations with the opening of a new office in Boston.
The move comes as the company reports a 17% year-over-year increase in best-line revenue, driven by continued demand for energy efficiency and low-carbon building design despite evolving policy changes and cuts to federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) funding.
The new Boston office is led by Principal Tom Burroughs and is expected to significantly increase the firm’s regional presence. The Boston team brings more than two decades of experience in the area and will support a variety of clients, including Millennium Partners, New Balance Development Group, and other organizations across higher education, healthcare, aviation, commercial, and sports venue development sectors.
In addition to Burroughs, the office will include Claire Maxfield, who joined PAE after serving as Managing Director for Atelier Ten’s U.S. region. Maxfield has more than 20 years of experience in advanced environmental design and has contributed to projects such as the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Mission Rock in San Francisco.
PAE’s expansion into Boston follows a period of strong company performance and national recognition. The firm was ranked:
-
#23 in Building Design & Construction’s best 50 Giants Report
-
#28 among the best 100 Consulting-Specifying Engineering MEP Giants
-
#37 in the Engineering News-Record (ENR) West Design Firms rankings
-
#58 on ENR’s best 100 Green Firms list
The company also completed several first-of-its-kind projects, including the Julia West House, the highest mass-timber multi-family building in Portland, Oregon, and the University of Washington Center for Behavioral Health and Learning.
Headquartered in Portland, PAE Engineers provides sustainable design and engineering services focused on energy efficiency, carbon reduction, and resilient infrastructure. The addition of the Boston office expands the firm’s reach and positions it to support a growing portfolio of East Coast projects.
