Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson’s relationship is as real as it gets.
“Everything between Pamela and Liam has been genuine,” a source close to the situation tells Us Weekly amid reports from TMZ and Rob Shuter that Anderson, 58, and Neeson, 73, faked a romance as a publicity stunt for their film, The Naked Gun. The pair play onscreen lovers Beth Davenport and Frank Drebin Jr. in the legacy sequel, which anthem theaters on August 1.
Rumors of a romance between Anderson and Neeson swirled when the costars got cozy with each other on the red carpet at the London premiere of The Naked Gun on July 22. At one point while taking photos together, Anderson leaned over and kissed Neeson on the cheek. In another sweet moment, Neeson wrapped his arm around Anderson’s waist and held her hand.
A source exclusively confirmed to Us on July 29 that Anderson and Neeson had begun “dating” after they connected while filming the movie, noting that the couple “always had chemistry” on set and “their friendship naturally developed into more.”
“They are both shy and have tried to stay private but the spark between them is obvious,” the insider added.
Anderson’s sons, Brandon, 29, and Dylan, 27, whom she shares with ex-husband Tommy Lee, even gave their stamp of approval to the romance. Both sons and their mom were in attendance for The Naked Gun’s New York City premiere on July 28. The trio posed with Neeson and his two sons, Micheál, 30, and Daniel, 28, whom he shared with late wife Natasha Richardson before her death at age 45 in 2009.
“[Brandon and Dylan] love seeing [their mom] happy and fully approve,” the insider said, adding that they “think Liam is great and have gotten to know him better in the last few months.”
Anderson and Neeson spoke about the romance speculation for the first time in a joint interview on Today on July 29.

“I had never met Pamela before. We met on set. And we discovered we had a lovely, budding chemistry — as two actors,” Neeson said when asked about the nature of their relationship. “It’s like, ‘Oh, this is nice. Let’s not mold this. Let’s just let it breathe.’ And that’s what we did.”
The two have since exchanged several sweet PDA moments in Naked Gun promos and gushed about each other in interviews.
“He’s such a sweetheart,” Anderson told Esquire of Neeson in a joint interview published August 13. “He’s so giving and generous and was so complimentary and supportive that, you know, you can’t help but fall in love with Liam.”
She continued, “I’m familiar with Liam’s career. He’s had such an incredible career, starting in theater and being part of this acting royalty, you know, from Schindler’s List and all the other films he’s done. So it was intimidating. I was afraid to meet him. I was literally shaking the first day I came to rehearse our first scene. But once we got going, I mean, he’s such a gentleman.”
Meanwhile, Neeson compared Anderson to the “very beautiful, sexy and funny” femme fatale character she played in The Naked Gun.
“Pamela is all that and more,” he said. “Any scene with Pamela Anderson was terrific, and I always looked forward to working with her. I think we got on well. She’s certainly become a new pal. She’s terrific to work with. No big ego, no airs, graces. We had a few laughs on set, yeah. [Her character] Beth and myself, we try to solve the big crime in the film together. We’re butting heads occasionally but that’s part of the fun.”
