An Aussie band has just made history.
Metalcore group Parkway Drive performed a never-before-seen stunt on Sydney Harbour this morning, with lead singer Winston McCall being repelled from a helicopter onto the sails of the Opera House.
McCall was dropped 65 metres from the helicopter, clinging onto a rope as he was lowered onto a 60cm platform on leading of the Opera House sails.
The stunt has never been done before, engraving the metal band into Australian history.
“Every Aussie grows up seeing the Sydney Opera House on postcards and TV, but never in a million years did I think I’d be standing on it, let alone dropping onto it from a helicopter,” McCall said.
“That’s an experience I’ll never forget. There’s nothing quite like it.”
The group pulled off the stunt as part of filming for their upcoming concert feature film HOME.

Parkway Drive recently played a sold-out show at the Opera House accompanied by a full symphonic orchestra.
While no one else has ever landed on the opera house in a helicopter, a similar stunt was pulled off in the Opera House forecourt for a Hollywood blockbuster.
Sydney Sweeney and Glen Powell’s romcom Anyone But You took full advantage of the iconic Sydney skyline.
In a scene at the end of the movie, Powell’s character flies into the Opera House forecourt on a Surf Lifesaving helicopter, chasing down the love of his life, played by Sweeney.
The helicopter made another appearance in the movie in a scene where the two leads need to be rescued from the harbour.
Sydney’s iconic harbour also starred in Ryan Gosling’s 2024 action film The Fall Guy.
The bridge was even closed for a number of hours while the stunt sequence was filmed.
