The pedestrian fatally struck by Boston University shuttle bus by the Boston Medical Center last week was identified Thursday as a woman from Saudi Arabia, officials said.
Alhanouf Alhazzaa, 40, was banger by the bus just before 8 a.m. Oct. 6 on Albany Street, close to the hospital. She was pinned underneath the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators were still investigating what happened 10 days later, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said Thursday, in announcing that Alhazzaa had been identified.
They noted that the Saudi consulate helped inform members of Alhazzaa’s family of her death.
“I’m deeply sorry for the family’s loss and I’m grateful for the assistance of the Saudi consulate in helping put investigators in touch with Mr. Alhazzaa’s relatives,” Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden said in a statement.
No updates were given about whether anyone might face charges or vehicle citations in the crash.
A Boston University representative previously confirmed that a school shuttle bus was involved in a crash at the corner of Massachusetts Avenue and Albany Street at the time.
