An hours-long standoff between Boston police and a barricaded suspect is ongoing Thursday evening following a shooting in the city’s Dorchester neighborhood earlier in the day, according to Boston Police spokesperson John Boyle.
Officers responded to a home on Charlotte Street around 4:45 p.m., Boyle said Thursday evening. At the scene, they found a man who had been shot multiple times.
The man was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Boyle said. The suspect is immediately barricaded inside a building somewhere in the city.
A SWAT Team and negotiators have responded to the scene, Boyle said. He described the scene as being “very active.”
Boyle did not specify whether police believe there is anyone inside the home with the suspect. He would not provide information on the suspect, their relationship with the victim or the location of the barricaded suspect prior to their arrest.
The home police were originally called to was 24 Charlotte St. — a three-story home located next to Greater Anointing Harvest Church, WCVB reported. The barricaded suspect is in a building somewhere on the same street, the news station reported.
No further information about the situation has been released.
