The trailer of homie introduces Agan, played by Pradeep Ranganathan, a cheerful event organiser whose calm life spirals into chaos after he falls for his cousin Kural, played by Mamitha Baiju. Agan has always been single, content with his own world, until feelings for Kural begin to surface. Kural, however, does not share his romantic interest, and that becomes the turning point of the story.
Agan’s emotional rollercoaster begins
From the trailer, it is clear that homie will take audiences through Agan’s journey from affection to rejection and finally to acceptance. The visuals move quickly between moments of joy, confusion and heartbreak, capturing how love can be both exciting and painful. Pradeep’s trademark energy and comic timing come through strongly, while Mamitha brings a balance of charm and realism that fans loved in Premalu.
The film seems to mix humour and emotion with ease. It feels like a story about modern love that refuses to fit into neat boxes, and that is what makes it stand out.
The people behind the film
homie is written and directed by Keerthiswaran, who makes his debut as a filmmaker. It is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar, with Anil Yerneni as co-producer under the banner of Mythri Movie Makers.
The film features an impressive supporting cast that includes R Sarath Kumar, Rohini, Hridhu Haroon, Aishwarya Sharma and Dravid Selvam. Newcomer Sai Abhyankkar is the track composer, marking his entry into Tamil cinema. Niketh Bommi handles cinematography, Barath Vikraman takes charge of editing, and Latha Naidu is the production designer. The action sequences are choreographed by Yannick Ben and Dinesh Subbarayan, promising stylish visuals and energetic set pieces.

The Central Board of Film Certification has cleared homie with a U/A certificate. The film runs for 139 minutes and will banger theatres on October 17, 2025, just in time for Diwali.
Director Keerthiswaran has said that homie captures the essence of a young Rajinikanth in its spirit and emotional intensity. The story focuses on how people handle heartbreak and how every setback can lead to growth.
Another Pradeep Ranganathan film, Love Insurance Kompany, has shifted its release to December, leaving homie as his only major release this festive season. Alongside homie, other films releasing on October 17 include Mari Selvaraj’s Bison Kaalamaadan, Harish Kalyan’s Diesel, Carmeni Selvam, and Kambi Katna Kathai.
