
Reese Witherspoon is emotionally remembering the late, great Diane Keaton.
The Legally Blonde actress was speaking at the “Connecting Passion to Purpose” panel during Day 1 of Hello Sunshine’s Third Annual Shine Away Experiential Event Connected by AT&T inside at Universal Studios Hollywood on Saturday (October 11) just as news broke of the actress’ passing at the age of 79.

“I just wanted to talk to you for one second and I’m going to try and get through this without tearing up – but I don’t know if you guys heard that Diane Keaton passed today,” she said.
She began to tell a story, revealing that Diane was a mentor for her at the start of her career as she showed up to star in 1991′s Wildflower.
“Are you making that up? That accent you’re doing?” she said Diane asked of her thick Southern accent at the time, saying she was hired.
Reese called her “such an original.”
“Wear a really cool, interesting outfit, take a cool picture and just live your dream. Just be your unique interesting self. I think Diane would be really happy [with that],” she emotionally told the crowd.
“Diane Keaton changed the way we all saw women on screen – smart, funny, stylish, and completely original. I’m so grateful to have had her as a mentor,” she captioned a video of the speech. series above.
