Stephanie Shojaee was seen discussing the possibility of starting a family with her husband, Masoud Shojaee, on the new episode of The Real Housewives of Miami. And after the show aired, Stephanie offered an update on her thoughts about having kids.
As she also spoke with Larsa Pippen, 51, about how her demeanor changed amid production on season seven, Stephanie, 40, shared her feelings about welcoming a child with the 66-year-old Shoma Group CEO, admitting that when it comes to conceiving, she has her concerns.
“There’s times I’m like, ‘Should we do it together, Steph?’” Larsa asked on the September 4 episode of the RHOM: After Show.
“I’m not having kids,” Stephanie replied.
While Larsa felt that she could convince Stephanie to have a child, Stephanie had a list of reasons why she was hesitant.
“They are super cute when you have them for a little, then you can give them away — back to whoever they belong to. But I just don’t want them around my YSL jacket or my Birkin. I just want to live a fabulous life. I don’t feel like I need to look back and think like, ‘Oh, I nurtured this,’” she admitted.
Stephanie then noted that she’s too much of a “control freak” to have kids.
“We all know I’m super punctual. If it’s something at 12, and it’s 11:59, and I start this like boiling sensation of like, ‘I can’t control it, why are people late?’” she explained.
Even after Larsa reasoned that people “change” when they have children, suspecting Stephanie would “be so much nicer” if she were a mother, Stephanie worried that her potential child would “resent” or even “hate” her — or that she would resent the child.
“I’m going to be like, ‘I had you. And then I have to spend all this money on you. And I have to get a nanny. And what if you’re not the brightest, and I have to get you a tutor? And spend more money. And you get sick.’ It’s too much for me,” she stated. “[And] what if it ends up being that they grow up and they don’t even want to hang out with me?”
Although Stephanie didn’t seem open to the idea of starting a family, she did dream about what her child would be like, describing him as a “little Masoud.”
“He has to be named Masoud. It has to be a boy,” she declared. “I want him to dress super chic. I want to put him in little suits. And I want him to take over Shoma. And I want him to like business.”
“What if I have a baby and he doesn’t want to dress like Masoud? He hates his name. He changes it,” she continued, adding, “Time’s running out,” as she considered fertility struggles.
“I’m 40. I’ve never gotten pregnant once. I don’t use protection. I don’t have an IUD. Never gotten pregnant. Masoud obviously has kids. So he’s not a problem. One would think I’m the problem,” she said. “Time is ticking, and it really stresses me out.”
“Maybe I should go check it out. And what if the guy tells me, ‘You know what? You can’t have kids.’ Then there’s my answer,” she concluded.
Then, during another segment of the RHOM: After Show, Larsa noted that by the time the cast went on their cruise, she began to notice changes in Stephanie, who came off a bit strong during her early moments with some of the ladies.
“I felt like you were better. You, emotionally, were better,” Larsa recalled.
“I was more stable,” Stephanie agreed. “[And] I really have tried so hard to say things in a kinder way.”
According to Larsa, she’s noticed Stephanie talking lower and slower since they first became friends, describing the two of them as people who “say it how it is.”
“I’m just like, loud. My delivery’s just sh*t … [But] you know exactly who you’re getting. So, have I changed? No, but I can definitely handle more d*ck jokes,” Stephanie insisted.
The Real Housewives of Miami season seven airs Thursdays at 9/8c on Bravo.
