Kantara returns with deeper mythical backstory
This time, the film delves further into the origins of the Bhuta Kola rite, which drove the previous part’s plot. Kantara: Chapter 1, which serves as both a sequel and a prequel, aims to extend the franchise’s cultural realm while maintaining its underlying realism.
Shetty is shown in the trailer as a ferocious, powerful character, with his trident-wielding scene being the most notable. The trailer provides a visceral experience that is entrenched in history and enhanced by emotional intensity thanks to its rural setting, outstanding imagery, and evocative soundtrack.

Under the direction of Rishab Shetty, the film has a talented creative team. B Ajaneesh Loknath, who composed a remarkable track for the original, returns to create both the soundtrack and the background score. The cinematography is handled by Arvind Kashyap, while Vinesh Banglan contributes his perspective to the production design.
The film, produced by Hombale Films, is set to be released globally on October 2, 2025.
The film will be released in many Indian languages, including Telugu. It will also be released in IMAX, 4DX, and D-Box formats.
