Kantara Chapter 1 box office collection: Since its release, Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 has been a box office success. Released during the Dussehra weekend, the prequel to the 2022 banger Kantara is already creating a stir, surpassing movies like Saiyaara and Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava. The movie made Rs 60 crore on its first day of release, with advance sales contributing about Rs 20 crore, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. Even Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG, which is currently in its second week, is facing fierce competition from it.
Becomes third-highest single-day collection of 2025
After Rajinikanth’s Coolie (Rs 65 crore) and Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG (Rs 63.75 crore), Kantara: Chapter 1 has already earned the third-highest single-day collection of 2025. Also, it surpassed the previous record-holding opening-day receipts of Saiyaara and Chhaava (Rs 52 crore). The movie, which was released in Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam, has drawn viewers from all across the nation.

In its first day of release, the movie sold an incredible 1.28 million tickets. Kannada brought in 18 crore, Telugu brought in 12.5 crore, Hindi brought in 19.5 crore, Tamil brought in 5.25 crore, and Malayalam brought in 4.75 crore. With more than 8,800 shows across India, the occupancy rate was impressive: 88 percent in Kannada screens, 70 percent in Telugu and Tamil theatres, 65 percent in Malayalam theatres, and 30 percent in Hindi theatres.

With Rs 60 crore on its first day, Kantara: Chapter 1 has already joined the leading 10 highest-grossing films of 2025. The prequel has already surpassed Yash’s KGF: Chapter 1 to become the third highest-grossing Kannada film of all time, although trailing slightly behind the openings of Rajinikanth’s Coolie and Pawan Kalyan’s They Call Him OG. The only movies left are KGF: Chapter 2 (Rs 1,215 crore) and the original Kantara (Rs 408 crore). Other 2025 blockbusters, like as Ram Charan-Shankar’s Game Changer (Rs 51 crore) and Hrithik Roshan-Jr NTR’s War 2 (Rs 52 crore), are still lagging behind in terms of opening-day receipts.
