Russell Wilson lost his starting quarterback job to rookie QB Jaxson Dart following the NY Giants loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
Both teams came into Sunday night’s game with 0-2 records. But Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs dominated the Giants to win their first game of the season 22-9.
Giants fans booed Wilson after he completed 18 passes for 160 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.
The disappointed crowd chanted for Dart, 22, to replace Wilson, 36. They got their wish when Dart took over for Russ in the 4th quarter. But his efforts were not enough.
The Giants fell to 0-3 on the season, while the Chiefs are 1-2.
After the game Dart was asked about the fans booing Wilson. The rookie had a classy response, saying: “I was just focused on the play.”
He added: “I’m just trying to be a really good teammate.”
Head coach Brian Daboll hinted that a quarterback change is coming.
“I’d be booing too, to be honest with you,” the coach said after the game. “In terms of not being good enough, not scoring, not finishing. I understand that. That’s the nature of it. We got to be better.”
Wilson denied reports that maybe he’s distracted by his many commitments off the field.
“There are highs and lows, and always tough moments,” Wilson said after the game.
“You know, you got to have thick skin. You got to be able to know who you are, the player that you are, know what you’re capable of.”

Meanwhile, Wilson’s 3BRAND kids’ clothing line passed the $100 million mark in sales last year and continues to grow in 2025.
Wilson launched 3BRAND clothing with his pop singer wife Ciara in 2021.

They came up with the idea for a children’s clothing line while watching her 11-year-old son, Future Zahir Wilburn-Wilson, run around the room. Wilson thought it would be a good idea to make a clothing brand for children.
“I’ve always liked fashion, but I grew up wearing sports clothes and going to school in polos and khakis,” Wilson said.
Wilson is ranked No. 49 on Forbes’ 2025 highest-paid athletes in the world.
