Ryan Tubridy and his fiancée Clare brought a dose of happiness and surprise to residents of a local nursing home this week when they popped in for a visit.
Sharing the experience on Instagram, Ryan revealed how he had received a card from two of the home’s residents, congratulating them on their recent engagement.
Ryan and Clare were so touched by the gesture that they decided to call in and thank them in person.
“Francis and Kathleen sent a card to congratulate myself and Clare on our engagement,” Ryan explained in a post he shared online.
“The card was so thoughtful and beautifully put together with the warmest words of love and support that ended with an invitation to visit them at the nursing home they are both residents of so we decided to call in unannounced,” he continued.
“And if I could’ve bottled the reaction, the vibe and the joy, I would have. Two nicer people you couldn’t meet and the staff – all amazing. We had tea, biscuits and the chats. New friends were made and off we went…”
Fans and friends were quick to praise the couple’s kindness, with boxer Kelly Harrington commenting: “Ryan, this is why we love ye. What a beautiful thing to do. So heart warming.”
While another follower wrote: “A lesson in some of life’s true gifts – the simple acts of reaching out, making connection, reciprocating and coming together.”

Ryan confirmed his engagement to his girlfriend, Dr Clare Kambamettu earlier this summer after speculation began swirling online when O’Dalaigh Jewellers in Clifden posted on social media that the former RTÉ star had visited to grab a ring.
Sharing the news with his listeners on Q102 this morning, Ryan said: “I have a little bit of news that I was kind of keeping a little bit to myself, to ourselves…
“However, the cat has been removed from the bag for a number of reasons and I’m very, very, very happy to confirm that I did indeed get engaged to my partner Clare on Thursday evening in the West of Ireland.”
How sweet!
