Scott Hoying is still lacing up his dancing shoes alongside Rylee Arnold after their Dancing With the Stars season 34 elimination.
Hoying, 34, and Arnold, 20, reunited onstage at his Saturday, November 8, Pentatonix concert to recreate part of their TikTok Night routine to Jennie’s “Like Jennie.” (The jazz performance earned the twosome a combined score of 22 out of 30 from judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough and Bruno Tonioli.)
After the duo finished the performance, Hoying and Arnold shared a sweet embrace on stage, per fan footage shared online.
“This was so cool!!! Literally so happy to be back with @scotthoying,” Arnold wrote via her Instagram Story on Saturday, alongside a video of Hoying introducing her to the crowd.
Hoying and Arnold exited DWTS season 34 in October, after earning a 28 out of 40 for their contemporary routine to “The Wizard and I.” The musician admitted he got “really flustered” mid-performance.
“I just like, blacked out and didn’t kill it,” Hoying explained during a joint appearance with Arnold on the “Official Dancing With the Stars Podcast” hosted by season 33 winner Joey Graziadei. “And I feel bad. I feel bad for Rylee because she worked so hard, but I’m proud of what we did.”
Hoying noted that he had a “weird freak accident” that led him to forget some of the choreography.
“I’d done it a million times, drilled it and then I just blanked,” he said. “I missed a move and then I could not recover. So I was kind of moving my body and watching Rylee and trying to get back on.”
After the elimination, Hoying explained that he would be busy with the Pentatonix tour. “Pentatonix is going on tour in two weeks,” he told Extra. “I was going to do both at the same time, which I had been stressing about and losing sleep over.”
In Hoying’s perspective, the “silver lining” of his elimination is that he can focus all of his energy on the tour. “But I won’t be with Rylee,” he added.
Arnold, for her part, gushed over their bond while reflecting on their exit in October.
“I truly couldn’t have asked for a better partner this season!! Scott, you were so amazing in every way,” Arnold wrote at the time. “Your patience, work ethic, laughter and kindness carried me through every single rehearsal and you helped me grow in so so many ways. I’m so proud of everything you did!”
She continued, “You worked so hard and you put your entire heart into the competition and I couldn’t be more grateful! You improved so much week by week and it was so surreal to be by your side experiencing it with you. It was absolutely amazing working with a person like you, you have insane creativity, talent and just everything about this season with you was perfect.”
Arnold shared that she would “forever cherish the memories” the pair made during the season, noting that she and Hoying “will make so many more together.”
“I couldn’t have done it without you, and gaining a new best friend in this process was just the best part of it all!” she concluded. “Scott is seriously one of the most genuine, kind and caring people I know and I’m so grateful that he is in my life today. Thank you for this amazing season, Scott, it was everything and more!”
