Salman’s first gig, and he wasn’t able to face the DSLR. Read further to know what happened and what we are talking about.
Bollywood’s favourite Salman Khan made his debut in the movies in 1998 with Biwi Ho Toh Aisi, but before his debut and iconic career that still speaks for itself, Salman Khan first faced the DSLR for a television commercial of Campa Cola. In a recent interview, the director of that ad recently talked about and recalled how Salman landed the ad and the stories related to it, giving fans a glimpse of bhai when he was just a baby.
In a conversation with The Sell Side’s YouTube channel, Kailash recalled that Salman was a last-minute addition to the team, suggested by a woman who was on board for the advertisement. The woman from the team apparently had seen him swim at a neighborhood club. “His story is that he saw her, wanted to impress her, so he dived into the water and came out the other side,” he recalled with a laugh.
Kailash shared that he wasn’t too impressed with Salman and recalled, “I thought he was a child because he was just 15. I said this guy is a baby compared to everyone else .” He shared and recalled that he was told, “Ask him to take off his shirt.” Kailash realized Salman actually fit the bill, and he became a part of the team.
Kailash then recalled how when Salman faced the DSLR for the first time, he wasn’t able to actually face the DSLR and open his eyes due to the reflectors. “The first shot we did with Salman, after the whole night of being awake and fooling around, he couldn’t face the reflectors; he couldn’t open his eyes. This was the first time he was facing a DSLR in his life. I told the cameraman to switch off all the reflectors. He switched it off and it came out beautifully,” he shared.
After shooting the entire day in the water and swimming around, they realised that the water was infected with sharks. He laughed while sharing, “We shot in the boat and the sea the whole day and then the navy guys told us, ‘There are sharks here, what the hell are you doing?’ So we all jumped into the boat and changed location,” he recalled with a laugh.
After the advertisement, it took Salman Khan 8 years to land his debut movie, and the rest is history, because no one is unaware of who the man is. The 15 -year- old boy sure would be proud of how far he made it.
