Scheana Shay spoke to Paige DeSorbo before deciding to turn down an offer to appear on The Valley‘s upcoming third season.
During the new episode of her podcast, which saw Scheana welcoming executive producer Alex Baskin to her show, the 40-year-old Vanderpump Rules alum looked back on a conversation she had with Paige, 32, who quit her role on Summer House after seven seasons in June.
“When I was thinking about Paige and her walking away, you know, she’s someone I’ve been friends with for years, and I reached out to her, and I’m like, ‘I’m really struggling. Like, I need to make a decision soon. Like, how did you know it wasn’t for you?’” Scheana recalled on the October 4 episode of Scheananigans, via YouTube.
While Scheana applauded Paige for “trying something different” and “for having an offer, [and] walking away from it” because “no one walks away from these offers,” she admitted that turning down a role on The Valley “wasn’t an easy decision.”
“I ask myself daily, like, ‘Am I lit? Am I making the right decision?’” she explained.
Still, as she looked back on her discussion with Paige, Scheana said walking away from The Valley made sense.
“I started to feel the same way. And I thought, you know, maybe, maybe this isn’t the next step for me. Emotionally, it’s like I felt like I’ve been running a marathon for over a decade, and I didn’t even have time to breathe before the next race. It felt like from book tour to season three, I didn’t even have time to check in on my marriage [to Brock Davies] or my family,” she noted.
According to Scheana, reality TV was never her dream. But when it comes to her future, she’s not opposed to returning to television one day.
“I feel like when I step in front of reality TV cameras again, I want to have the feeling that I had when I was on set of Lopez vs. Lopez. It was the first time in a long time that I had like a fire in me, where I was excited,” Scheana stated. “I didn’t have tightness in my chest and the anxiety feeling like, ‘Oh my God, I have lunch with her tomorrow and we have to talk about this.’”
“I want to find my purpose on reality TV. I don’t want my purpose to be reality TV,” she added.
The Valley season three is currently in production and expected to premiere on Bravo sometime in early 2026.
